My name is Erblin Shehu and I am an international student from Albania. Currently, I am a sophomore and I am planning to double major in global health studies and economics. You might wonder why and how I came to Allegheny College. Well, while I was in Albania, I did have the chance to work with many American Peace Corps volunteers in different development projects and that is how I got to know about Allegheny College. One of the Peace Corps volunteers was an Allegheny graduate who was working in my town to create a local radio station. He shared with me his experience at Allegheny and highly recommend me to consider Allegheny as my choice.
Now that I am part of the Allegheny community I try to be as engaged as I can, both on and off campus. I am part of the Bonner Program and the Global Citizen Program,. During my first year at Allegheny College I was the Philanthropy Chair of Model UN, as well as an active member of UNICEF and International Club. This year I am the president of the International Club.
After graduation I would like to continue my studies in the field of public health and get specialized in a section of it. My dream is to work with an international organization and to help people who are in need. Thanks to you I am one step closer to that goal.
Thanks to Melvin and Miriam Wurst International Student Scholarship I am able to do all these things that otherwise I wouldn’t be able to. And most importantly, the scholarship made it possible for me to come to the United States and study in an American college. I hope one day I will be able to help students achieve their goals, just as you have helped me.
