Ben Cammarano, Studio Art class of 1992, serves as Director of Central Media for Microsoft Game Studios. He is responsible for leading a group of talented and highly-motivated creative and technical art, design and audio directors as well as post-production, sound, print and outsourcing specialists. Their charter is to oversee the publishing art, design and audio efforts for 1st-party Xbox 360, G4WL and XBLA businesses which include titles and franchises such as Halo, Gears of War, Fable, Viva Piniata, Banjo Kazooie, Age of Empires, Scene It, LiPS, Splosion Man, Shadow Complex, Alan Wake and Crackdown. In addition, his group supports and drives various art and audio initiatives for MGS and works closely with partners to r&d the latest-and-greatest in new IP and technology development such as Project Natal, NXE design, etc.
After graduating from Allegheny College, he moved to New York City to pursue graduate school in computer animation at Pratt Institute, but a chance encounter lead him to an early internship at a small multi-media company in the heart of Manhattan. After a few years working in CG animation for such post-production companies as Manhattan Center Studios, Doros Motion and Filmeast, LLC, he moved full-time into game development and worked at Microsoft Game Studios, EA and Lifesim, LLC.
