ASM Materials Camp

June 24 & 25, 2014

ASM Materials Camp and Allegheny College are looking for students in high school who are highly motivated, inquisitive learners with math and science aptitude.

ASM Materials Camp is a two-day day camp (non-residential) utilizing hands-on learning principles of applied math, physics, and chemistry. A very unique team-based, intensive problem solving science experience under the direction of distinguished industry leaders and college faculty. The Camp includes a combination of mini-demonstrations and field trips with extensive involvement in laboratory facilities to actively explore materials science & engineering principles in practice with local industry.

NO cost to students – meals and tuition are free.

All applications need to be submitted online. Required information includes most recent report card and a letter of recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor which can be emailed to events@allegheny.edu or faxed to 814-332-2837.

Students should have basic knowledge or interest in mathematics, chemistry, and physics and want to learn more about engineering and materials science as a possible college major and career. This is a competitive application process due to limited laboratory space.

Materials Camp began in 2000 in Cleveland, Ohio and have expanded to 26 global locations for students and 36 locations for teachers. These STEM focused workshops feature hands-on laboratory activities that engage students in active exploration of physical science through materials.
