Sarah Gentile ’10

Summer 2008 Davies Leader

“Mill Run Project Plan”
Center for Economic and Environmental Development – CEED

Allegheny College’s Center for Economic and Environmental Development engages students, faculty and the community in creating innovative approaches to environmental stewardship, environmental education and regional revitalization. While working with Program Director Amara Geffen, Sarah researched the historical significance of Mill Run in the development of Meadville. Sarah helped to collect and organize data on Mill Run that could be used in stream analysis.

Sarah has been working on this project with Amara and is very excited to have much of her research done. She says she is ready to get her hands dirty and contribute to the progress of the project. Much of Sarah’s time was spent at the Meadville Historical Society. Being directly in the community, Sarah was able to experience Meadville in a unique way this summer. Although Sarah’s Davies Leader experience is over, she will continue to be involved with the Mill Run project and help to serve as an advocate of the college and community unification.

From Chatham, NJ, Sarah is going into her junior year at Allegheny College. She is majoring in Communication Arts and her minor is Art and the Environment.
