Nicole Fuhrman ’10

Fall 2007-Spring 2008 Davies Leader

“Senior Citizen Recognition Day”
Active Aging

Active Aging is a non-profit agency in Crawford County that provides useful resources to senior citizens to promote a healthy and active lifestyle. Nicole successfully organized student volunteers to help with Senior Citizen Recognition Day at Allegheny College on 16 April 2008. In addition, Nicole helped to organize the Veteran’s Day celebration at Active Aging and to create a check-in system for the Health and Fitness Center.

Nicole had a very positive experience working with the Davies program and enjoyed her work once she began planning for Senior Citizen’s Day. She gained experience working on a team and collaborating with committee members and volunteers. Her experience as a Davies Leader has changed her outlook about what to expect from future work (she certainly cannot envision going back to work at McDonald’s!).

Nicole is a sophomore Environmental Science major at Allegheny College. She is from Erie, PA and wants to explore her diverse set of interests.
