“Preparing for 125th Anniversary Celebration”
Academy Theatre

The Academy Theatre is a historical building that held famous acts and performances from Vaudeville to opera, and it was recently restored to preserve a piece of Meadville’s history and continue to serve as a performance space for the community. Ashley is a senior Communication Arts major and Values, Ethics and Social Action (VESA) minor. Her project at the Academy Theatre is to prepare for the 125th Anniversary Celebration next December in 2010.

Ashley loves the opportunity to work alongside and for the surrounding Meadville community, and she says that it has afforded her a sense of community outside of campus life. In light of her Davies experience from her sophomore year, she decided to study abroad for a year in Kenya, Africa last year. Her time and experience there recommitted her passion for service and community involvement. Her unique story and commitment was featured at Allegheny’s 2nd Annual All-Service Leader Dinner this fall, where she was featured as a speaker. Her newfound passion has made her current position as a Davies Leader that much more meaningful.

After the graduation Ashley hopes to look into the non-profit sector for a career that while allow her to continue to peruse my passion for service. “There is no doubt that my experience as a Davies Leader has impacted my career path and helped it grow and, hopefully, flourish,” she says.
