Provost and Dean of the College

The Provost and Dean of the College is Allegheny’s chief academic officer, who works closely with the faculty and the president to help shape and manage the academic program. Allegheny’s deans are responsible for academic affairs, curriculum and faculty recruitment.

In July 2003, Linda C. DeMeritt began her appointment as Dean of the College. Joining Allegheny’s faculty in 1982, Dean DeMeritt has served as chair of the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and was the project director for a major grant from the A. W. Mellon Foundation. She also has been a member of the Faculty Review Committee and the Faculty Council. She has published five books and served as the national president of the Modern Austrian Literature and Cultural Association.

The most effective way to contact the provost is through Samantha Stephens, assistant to the provost, at (814) 332-3393. The Provost’s office is located on the first floor of Bentley Hall.
