Unethical Human Experimentation in the
Mid-Twentieth Century

Abstract:

The topic of my research may potentially make a reader uncomfortable. The first chapter is about the human experimentation conducted on Jewish inmates in various prison camps and government facilities by Nazi doctors during World War II. The second chapter discusses The Nuremberg War Crimes Trials, the subsequent Doctors’ Trials, and the formation of the Nuremberg Code. The final chapter deals with the reception of the Nuremberg Code and unethical human experimentation after the formation of the Nuremberg Code specifically in the United States. This then leads to the formation of the Declaration of Helsinki, which is still in use today.
