Academic Building Coordinator

Allegheny College, a small selective national liberal arts college invites applications for a full-time temporary position as Academic Building Coordinator for the Departments of Philosophy, Religious Studies & English.  The position is a non-exempt position requiring 40 hours per week, starting immediately through May 2018.  The position is eligible for medical benefits.

Primary responsibilities include providing secretarial/clerical and receptionist support to each department and to the Director of Interdisciplinary Programs including, but not limited to, maintaining department web pages and web presence; maintaining financial records specific to each department; supervising and coordinating work-study programs and students for these departments; processing incoming/outgoing mail; typing; answering telephone; maintaining schedule of room use and working closely with maintenance, housekeeping staff, and catering/food services; monitoring office inventory and purchasing supplies; assisting with special events; maintaining department files; administering class evaluations; and recording class and faculty schedules.

Qualifications for the position include office experience in a secretarial office position, strong organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, solid grammar skills, being adept with details, the ability to work under deadlines and to supervise work-study students.  Candidate must have excellent typing skills and must be computer literate, and have experience working with Microsoft Office suite. The ability to learn and work with computer software and databases used at Allegheny, including Datatel/Informer, Webadvisor, Sakai, WordPress, Google Drive, and Adobe Acrobat, is also essential. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in higher education, although qualified applicants in all areas are encouraged to apply.
