Allegheny College, a small selective liberal arts college located in northwest Pennsylvania, invites applications for the position of AmeriCorps VISTA Interim Director. This is a one year, full-time exempt position. The term of this assignment will run from August 1 2017 through July 31, 2018.
AmeriCorps*VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) is a national service program dedicated to eliminating poverty by helping individuals and low-income neighborhoods make positive changes for themselves. The Lake Effect Leaders AmeriCorps VISTA Program of Northwest Pennsylvania is a collaborative effort of Allegheny College, Gannon University, and Mercyhurst University. The Interim Director will work out of the Civic Engagement office in the Allegheny Gateway and report to the Director of Civic Engagement in the Allegheny Gateway. He or she will be responsible for supporting 30 VISTA’s serving at non-profit organizations throughout Erie and Crawford counties. In addition the director will supervise the VISTA Project Coordinator.
Qualifications include a Master’s degree in a related field. Successful candidates will possess experience with grant writing/management, supervision and professional development, and community partnership development. In addition, preferred candidates will have prior CNCS service experience and/or strong ethic of service.
