Allegheny College, a small selective liberal arts college located in northwest Pennsylvania, invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of Residence Life for Housing Operations. This is a full-time exempt administrative position reporting to the Associate Dean & Director of Residence Life. Approximately 1750 students live in eleven residence halls, three apartment complexes and a variety of houses that surround the campus. Allegheny’s residence life program is actively involved in student programming, education, orientation and retention.
The Assistant Director manages and coordinates housing operations for all campus-owned student residences. The position partners with the Business & Finance Office to coordinate the overall housing business processes including selection and assignment, housing agreements, communications and utilizing housing management software to maintain accurate and up-to-date records and systems. This position also collaborates with Physical Plant, Housekeeping, Conference and Events and Public Safety to ensure that residential facilities are adequately maintained, including the proposal of facility upgrades and rehab/renovation projects designed to enhance the quality of life for students and residential staff. He/she will collaborate with Admissions regarding occupancy for incoming students and with Conference & Event Services to coordinate transition efforts between closing and opening of the academic year. The Assistant Director also works with the Disabilities Coordinator on special housing accommodations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s degree is required. A Master’s Degree in higher education administration, student personnel, counseling, or related field is preferred. At least 2 years of professional responsibility and demonstrated ability to blend academic and residential components of student life is required. Additionally, an understanding of a small, residential, liberal arts college will be viewed positively.
