Director of the Maytum Learning Commons

Allegheny College, a small highly selective liberal arts college located in northwest Pennsylvania, invites applications for the position of Director of the Maytum Learning Commons. The Learning Commons supports the academic success of all Allegheny students through individual academic coaching and a wide variety of programmatic offerings. This is a full-time 12-month exempt, administrative position.

The Director will coordinate all aspects of the academic success program, including course registration of incoming students, the early academic alert system, the nationally certified peer tutoring program, targeted student success programming, and academic coaching. The Director will also provide leadership for the Learning Commons, including hiring and supervising personnel, as well as formulating and implementing a vision for academic success in collaboration with other offices on campus.

Qualifications preferred for the position include a Master’s degree and five to seven years of experience in a secondary or college/university educational setting. Previous experience working with students experiencing academic difficulty is preferred. The successful candidate will also possess a demonstrated ability to work effectively with people from different backgrounds. This position requires a high level of written and oral communication skills; organizational skills; ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and college administrators; the ability to work independently; and familiarity with recent and emerging trends in the field of learning support.
