Getting and Installing GSview and Ghostscript

With GSView and Ghostscript installed you will be able to view and print .ps files, even if you do not have a postscript printer. GSView is a windows interface to Ghostscript. You need both programs, but all your interaction with Ghostscript will be in the background, through GSView. You also need some postscript fonts. Fortunately, everything you need is available for download in two files, and installation is straightforward.

The Ghostscript home page is at https://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/index.htm

From this page you can follow the links to get the latest version of Ghostscript. Currently, this is Ghostscript 8.60, which can be obtained at https://sourceforge.net/projects/ghostscript/

You should also download GSView, a graphical interface to Ghostscript. https://www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/index.htm will have a link to the current version of GSView.

Once you have downloaded the files, locate them on your hard drive and double-click gs860w32.exe to install Ghostscript 8.60 and then double-click gsv48w32.exe to install GSView 4.8. In both cases, an installation program will run to install the programs.

After the installation program has finished, run GSView. When GSView is open click on Media on the GSView menu and select letter.

Now you can view your .ps file in GSView by using File > open. When you are ready to print, choose File > print.
