Master’s Program in French or Spanish at Colorado State University

Our small but established program offers solid training in language, literature and culture.

We are proud to provide a rather unique opportunity for personalized programs of study. Students may choose between a selective focus on literature, language, and culture (Departmental option) and an interdisciplinary course of study (Interdisciplinary option). Common to both options are a number of courses in literature, culture, linguistics, teaching and research methodologies, and critical skills. Both options are designed to serve students seeking to continue their studies in a doctoral program or those looking to meet specific career objectives in the private, governmental, or academic sectors, in teaching, or in the international arena. Faculty specializations include Applied Linguistics, Business, Cultural Studies, Colonial and Golden Age Literatures, Francophone Studies, Contemporary Spanish and Latin American Literatures, Translation Studies, Poetry and Women’s Writing.

We also offer a Joint Master of Arts Degrees in Languages, Literatures, and Cultures and English (TESL). This three-year program requires concurrent study in two master’s degree programs, one in Languages, Literatures and Cultures (French or Spanish) and the other in English (TEFL/TESL). The two sponsoring departments provide an interdisciplinary program to enhance both theoretical and applied competencies in the learning and teaching of English and other languages as expressions of their respective cultures.
