The Provost’s Office is starting a new initiative to launch the academic year for faculty and other educators on campus. The first start-of-the-year Faculty Resource Institute will be Thursday, Aug. 25, from 8:30 a.m. to noon in Schultz Banquet Hall. Breakfast will be provided. This is being modeled after similar workshops that have been well received by faculty at peer institutions, including our GLCA colleagues. The Institute will begin with an overview of our incoming class, followed by sessions with resources in the areas of: academic advising; current trends in teaching and learning; student mental health and other support services; and the Allegheny statement of community. The detailed list of topics will be advertised a few weeks before the workshop. In the meantime, please save the date, and the provost encourages all faculty and other educators to participate for a collegial and informative start to the academic year.
