Under the Pennsylvania Law Act 153 of 2014, any students having direct contact with minors through paid or volunteer work or classes associated with Allegheny College must obtain a Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Record, Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare Child Abuse Clearance, and Federal Criminal History Record. Allegheny College will cover the fees of the background checks and assist in the application process. Supervisors must assist in identifying and ensuring the appropriate students have obtained the background checks prior to beginning their work. Student workers must provide a student section of the Student Employment Form, which will indicate if their background checks have all been completed (received) or at least applied for (incomplete) and the student has completed a Provisional Affidavit. Students can come to one of the following sessions in Room 117 of Murray Hall for assistance in obtaining these clearances:
Wednesday, August 31, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Tuesday, September 6, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Friday, September 16, from 2 to 4 p.m.
