Limited Seats Available for the Women’s March on Washington: 1/21

Allegheny College will join with other colleges and universities across the nation in support of the Women’s March on Washington on Saturday, January 21. In the spirit of civility and democracy, the Women’s March on Washington will stand in community and support of the most marginalized among us in this great nation. The march is designed to unify our communities and to advocate for parity, justice and equity in our society and in our national leadership. The Allegheny College organizers include the Departments of History, Philosophy, Political Science, Women’s Gender & Sexuality Studies, the IDEAS Center, and student organization representatives from Reproductive Health Coalition, Young Feminist Leadership Alliance, Association for the Advancement of Black Culture, and Union LatinX.

The event details are as follows:
• The bus will depart Allegheny College on January 21 at 2 a.m. outside of Reis Hall.
• The Women’s March on Washington will convene on Saturday, January 21, at 10 a.m.
• A program featuring nationally recognized advocates, artists, entertainers, entrepreneurs, thought leaders, and others will be announced in the coming week. For more information, visit www.womensmarch.com.
• The bus will depart Washington, D.C., at 4 p.m. Students, faculty and staff will return before midnight. An updated schedule will be provided.
• To ensure timely travel and the general safety and well-being of all participants, students must remain with the Allegheny College group at all times. A registration fee of $40 is required. If you wish to participate, please complete this application. Students will be selected on a first-come basis using time of submission of the application. All students are required to pay $40 to the Office of the Dean of Students on or before Wednesday, January 18, at noon. If you do not pay the $40 by January 18 at noon, an alternate will be selected to participate. A portion of the registration fee will be returned to students for the purchase of food during travel. Please be advised that the application closes on Wednesday, January 18, at 8 a.m.
