The September talk in the Karl W. Weiss ’87 Faculty Lecture Series for 2017-18 will be held on Wednesday, September 13, at 7 p.m. in the Wible Planetarium (Carr 121). Jamie Lombardi, associate professor of physics, will present “A Brief Tour of the Universe.” Come see where we are within the cosmos and learn your way around the night sky. We present stunning images of celestial objects, starting with the nearby moon and progressing outward until we reach the galaxies at the edge of our observable universe. Then we dim the lights and project the stars overhead. With the turn of a dial, we can view the night sky as it appears from any place on Earth. We finish by reviewing some of the stars, planets, and constellations that are easily visible from Meadville at night, so that you can head home with knowledge connecting you to the sky above. Families and friends of all ages are welcome at the Wible Planetarium in Carr Hall, where the skies are always clear!
