Traditionally, summer is a busy season for the Library and Information Technology Services (LITS) team. As the weather warms, the team hunker down and start the work of upgrading hardware, learning new skills, adding resources to the collection, planning for the future, evolving processes, and implementing new technology. Some of the work is noticed like new copiers or a refreshed website. Other changes are behind the scenes like the preparations to replace Webadvisor or implement a new housing system. A bit of the work has immediate impact like alterations to password requirements while positioning for the future is a benefit of projects like collections management, replacing the phone system, or selecting a new library service platform. As the weather turns cooler and LITS shifts their attention back to matters of the academic year, interested members of the community are encouraged to review a summary of what LITS focused on this summer.
