The 2018-2019 FAFSA will be live on Sunday, October 1, 2017. Students and parents (as appropriate) can update their FAFSA this weekend. The permanent opening filing date for FAFSA is October 1. If you would like to be considered for federal and need-based aid, please click here to file your FAFSA. Important points to remember:
1) Students and parents (as appropriate) will use their 2016 income information to file the 2018-2019 FAFSA. Remember, the Department of Education is asking families to use Prior-Prior Year (PPY) income information. PPY income information makes the FAFSA easier to use since your 2016 taxes have already been completed and the Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) will be immediately available to use. PPY income also ensures accurate information is being added to the FAFSA since families no longer have to estimate income due to incomplete tax information.
2) To receive your maximum financial aid eligibility, please file your FAFSA by Allegheny College’s priority deadline of February 15, 2018.
3) Be sure you and your parents (as appropriate) have your FSA identifications ready when filing the FAFSA. If you are not sure if you have a FSA ID or if it’s expired, please click here to confirm your FSA ID.
