Gator Day will be held next Tuesday, October 24. Programs, events, and workshops related to academic success, postgraduate opportunities, and community building will take place throughout the day. A full schedule and description of Gator Day program offerings can be found here. On Gator Day eve, Monday, October 23, Sigma Xi will host a guest lecture by Dr. Herman Sintin titled “Bacterial Conversation: What Is it and How Can it be Stopped to Prevent Infections From Spreading?” The lecture is at 7 p.m. in Quigley 101. On Gator Day, the Center for Political Participation and the Learning Commons are hosting two (identical) workshops with Caitie Whelan titled “The Art of Risk Taking: Tools for Taking Risk, Handling Fear, and Living Meaningfully.” These workshops will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. and from 3 to 4:15 p.m. in the Pelletier Collaboratory. Nearly all of the departmental and program open house events are scheduled from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. Interested students are encouraged to “wander” from one open house to another to learn more about the various majors and programs available at Allegheny.
