Are you still looking for a class to take? Want to learn more about the Middle East and North Africa from the perspective of Arab writers? In “Modern Arabic Novel in Translation” (ARAB 250), we will read contemporary novels that address issues that include (but are not limited to) the consequences of the wars in Iraq on the Iraqi people and landscape, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, living through civil war, and the impact of oil on the Middle East and Persian Gulf region socially, politically, and environmentally. These novels offer another lens to look at issues in the region. The class meets MWF at 1:30 and counts towards the MENA minor, IS majors with a regional focus on the Middle East and North Africa, and the HE and PD Distribution Categories.
