MEADVILLE, Pa. – Oct. 1, 2009 – Registration is now open for the seven-week fall session of Allegheny College’s Co-Motion movement and music program for babies and toddlers. Co-Motion will meet on Wednesdays from 10 to 10:45 a.m. from Oct. 7 to Nov. 18 in the basement dance studio of the college’s Montgomery Gym. Hannah Cosdon is the program’s founder and instructor. College intern and guitarist Dan Winston will provide musical accompaniment.
This session of Co-Motion is for children ages 9 months to 36 months and their caregivers. The cost for the fall session is $40 for one child and caregiver. Additional siblings may participate at a discounted rate of $15 per session.
Co-Motion uses music and motion to explore rhythm, echo, speed, shape and body awareness to stimulate language, motor and social skills. The program offers a mix of structured group activities and free play with instruments, gym balls, scarves, balloons and more, followed by a period of relaxation and gentle stretching. Children move at their own pace, with guidance from their caregivers and the teacher.
This session of Co-Motion is co-sponsored by Creating Landscapes and Allegheny’s dance and movement studies program. For more information or to register, contact Hannah Cosdon at 814-333-6268 or hcosdon@windstream.net.
