MEADVILLE, Pa. – Oct. 12, 2009 – Soprano Vicki Jamison and pianist Wendy Plyler will present a recital featuring Allegheny College music faculty on Sunday, Oct. 18 at 3:15 p.m. in Ford Memorial Chapel on the Allegheny campus. The recital is free and open to the public.
The recital will open with three Handel arias with trumpet obbligato performed by Jennifer Dearden, assistant professor of music at Allegheny and a member of the River City Brass Band, based in Pittsburgh. “Nocturnes,” a song cycle by 20th century British composer Arnold Cooke, will feature Bryan Adkins on French horn. Adkins is a member of the Erie Philharmonic’s horn section and the Allegheny faculty brass quintet. A set of three Rachmaninoff songs will highlight the piano skills of Plyler, adjunct piano instructor at Allegheny and a former Miss Crawford County.
Jamison is an adjunct voice instructor at Allegheny. Her performance credits include the Milwaukee Opera Company, Florentine Opera Company, Connecticut Stage Inc., the Erie Philharmonic and numerous local recitals and concerts.
