Single Voice Reading Series To Present Essayist Matthew Ferrence

Nov. 8, 2011 — The Single Voice Reading Series at Allegheny College will present essayist Matthew Ferrence at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the Tillotson Room of the Tippie Alumni Center. The reading is free and open to the public.

Ferrence recently joined the college’s Department of English after stints in both journalism and tournament golf. His essays have appeared in Blue Mesa Review, Crab Orchard Review, Concho River Review and Puckerbrush Review, among other publications. His essay “Rules of the Game” was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2009 and the Dzanc Books Best of the Web Prize in 2010.

Ferrence received a B.A. from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, an M.F.A. from the University of Pittsburgh and a Ph.D. from West Virginia University.
