Allegheny College’s Student Newspaper Wins First Place Award from Pennsylvania Newspaper Association

May 31, 2013 – The Campus, the student newspaper at Allegheny College, won a first-place award in the four-year college category for ongoing news coverage from the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association.

The Campus staff won a 2013 Student Keystone Press Award for their reporting on “Tracking Keith Green,” which detailed a manhunt by law enforcement officers in April 2012 as they worked to apprehend a fugitive who had fled a house in the neighborhood of Allegheny College. Dan Bauer, who was managing editor of The Campus, led the reporting on the Keith Green story.

The Student Keystone Press Awards recognize high school and college journalism that provides relevance, integrity and initiative in serving readers.

The Campus was first published at Allegheny College in 1876. One of the oldest colleges in the country, Allegheny College will celebrate its bicentennial in 2015.
