Economics Professor Don Goldstein To Be Panelist for Discussion on Wind Energy

Sept. 17, 2013 – Don Goldstein, who is the Andrew Wells Robertson Professor of Economics at Allegheny College, will be a panelist for a discussion on wind energy hosted by Gannon University on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 5 p.m. in the Zurn Science Center, Room 101, at 143 W. Seventh St. in Erie. The event is free and open to the public.

The panel – titled “Great Lakes Off-Shore Wind Power: Update from Cleveland and What is in it for Northwest PA?” — is organized by the Northwest Pennsylvania Green Economy Taskforce (NWPAGE) and the Clean Air Council. A representative of the Lake Erie Energy Development Corporation (LEEDCo) will provide an update on the Icebreaker project in Cleveland, which would be the first offshore wind installation in the Great Lakes. Two local panelists will discuss how responsible development of offshore wind power in Pennsylvania waters can benefit the northwestern Pennsylvania region.

The panel also includes Eric Ritter, the communications and strategy manager for LEEDCo, and John Rossi, associate professor of history at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, co-chair of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the Sierra Club Global Warming Committee and chair of the Lake Erie Group of the Sierra Club Conservation Committee.
