September Concert by Alec Chien Canceled

Aug. 11, 2014 — A recital by pianist Alec Chien, originally announced for September 6 at Allegheny College, has been canceled because of scheduling issues.

Chien will perform in two free concerts at Allegheny College in March 2015. On March 6, at 7:30 p.m. in Ford Chapel, he will be featured with the Alexander String Quartet in the Brahms and Schumann piano quintets.

The next day, on March 7, Chien will conclude his series on the major works of Schubert and Chopin, at 3 p.m. in Shafer Auditorium. The March 7th concert concludes a series of seven concerts over four years that Chien designed to express his gratitude to the community and to Allegheny College.

The two concerts will be his last as an Allegheny faculty member: Chien is retiring from teaching at the college after the 2014-2015 year, after 35 years of service. The final concert is also part of the college’s bicentennial celebration.
