Meadville Council on the Arts To Show “Heeschen Creatures”

May 26, 2015 – The Meadville Council on the Arts, located on the second floor of the Market House, is showing “Heeschen Creatures,” a selection of linocuts and other prints picturing animals by the late Carl F. Heeschen. The exhibit was on display earlier this year at the Erie Art Museum, in collaboration with the Heeschen family and in celebration of Allegheny College’s bicentennial.

Carl F. Heeschen taught at Allegheny College for 35 years, from 1947 until his retirement in 1982. He served as chairman of the art department for nearly 30 years.

The exhibit will be on display until June 6 in the Heeschen Gallery. Carl Heeschen, with other community members, helped to establish the Meadville Council on the Arts in 1975.

An opening reception is scheduled for Friday, May 29 from 7 to 9 p.m., with special gallery hours Monday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
