Christina Perez ’16 was one of 40 student-athletes from across the country to attend the NCAA National Convention January 12-16 in San Antonio, Texas. Christina’s attendance was funded by an NCAA grant for minority students who aspire to be athletic administrators and coaches. While at the convention, Christina took part in a number of networking and professional development sessions. Christina is also taking part in the North Coast Athletic Conference’s Branch Rickey Mentor Program, a professional shadowing experience that matches veteran NCAC athletic administrators and coaches with female and minority students who aspire to a career in college athletics. Through this program, Christina meets regularly with Director of Athletics and Recreation Portia Hoeg, while also taking part in regularly scheduled professional development events sponsored by the NCAC.
