Chamber Singers to Present Opera Scenes Program

April 29, 2016 — The Allegheny Chamber Singers will present their annual Opera Scenes program on May 8 at 3:15 p.m. in Ford Memorial Chapel on the Allegheny College campus.

Twelve singers will present scenes from “Fidelio,” “Cosi fan tutte,” “La Perichole,” “The Beggar’s Opera,” “Flavio,” “Le Nozze di Figaro,” “Il Trovatore” and “Der Freischütz.” The program will open with the well-known Anvil Chorus from “Il Trovatore” and conclude with the opening chorus from “Der Freischütz.” All scenes will be performed in their original languages.

The opera scenes are staged by guest director Jessica Sakal. Ward Jamison will accompany the singers on piano, and Vicki Jamison will serve as narrator to explain the drama of each scene. She and Carol Niblock have coached the music and diction.

The Chamber Singers this semester are Troy Dinga, Lauren Dominique, Kyle Donnelly, Louis Feher-Peiker, Brennen French, Chelsea Hubert, Daniel Keitel, Megan Kelly, Ashley Mulryan, Lauren Ottaviani, Johanna Stanley and Audrey Trotta.
