Welcome to Allegheny! We are excited that you are joining our community of scholars and leaders. New Student Orientation is designed to welcome incoming students with events that introduce students to campus life and the many resources that are available. We encourage you to connect with new and returning students, discover the value of the Allegheny experience, and engage in the vast curricular and co-curricular programs, activities, and services.

The New Student Orientation schedule is your guide to the events our Gator Orientation Leaders, faculty, and staff have planned to connect and engage with you over the next few days. Take advantage of all programs and activities as they will be informative, helpful, and fun! Our goal is to help make your transition as smooth as possible as you learn to successfully navigate the Allegheny College experience. Welcome and GO GATORS!

Saturday, August 26, 2017 – Tentative Schedule

Allegheny is especially well known for the undergraduate preparation of successful health professionals. Our graduates do more than gain admission to professional school; they perform exceptionally well once there, and they flourish in their careers. Our Pre-Health Advisor will provide an overview of Pre-Health Professions program, including resources to help students prepare for careers in the medical, dental, and veterinary professions. There will be time for participants to ask questions about the program.

Welcome to your new global community, where you will engage in learning, living, and laughing in a diverse community. Allegheny Listens is a shared learning experience designed to introduce new students to each other and to the academic community. New students will come together for a common reading and shared learning experience that introduces them to diversity and academic discourse. The experience will encourage deeper thinking and discussion to further unite the campus community in support of our Statement of Community.

Faculty members will be available to sign cards to add courses to your schedule if you have discussed a change to your schedule with your advisor. Students also can use this time to visit the Registrar’s Office in Bentley Hall to address questions or submit signed add cards.

Allegheny’s Career Education Office offers a wide variety of career resources to help you jump-start your career planning during your first year of college. This session will explore your role in the career planning process and lifelong career management skills. Speak About It! is a performance-based presentation about consent, boundaries, and healthy relationships using a combination of humorous yet provocative skits, interactive dialogue, and powerful monologues. The skits address consent, sexual assault, and bystander intervention.
