“Altogether, I feel like I have garnished a well-rounded, albeit ‘unusual,’ college experience.”

Growing up with a sibling who suffers from a neurological disorder, Anthony was determined to someday contribute to brain research. He also discovered a personal interest in religion after taking a few classes. “I’ve learned about how best to tackle issues of faith and how to apply religion to various areas such as ecology, politics, and especially science, and it’s fascinating to see how religion can tie to so many things.”

Through his Senior Project, Anthony further explored the connections between his religious studies and neuroscience majors. He researched how group involvement, religiosity, and exercise affect stress levels and incorporated both psychological and theological components within his study. “The theological incorporation also attempted to show how science must be careful in studying religion and its consequences and show how the two fields can interact.”

In addition to his two majors, Anthony is also a USTFCCA Academic All-American and a 2nd Team ESPN Academic All-American in cross country and track and field. “I have made my best friends through participating on the teams, and I have been able to continue participating in a sport I love,” Anthony says. “Being involved with running and having two majors has helped me to prioritize my time and establish a routine that keeps me motivated through the year.”

Anthony feels that his unique academic combination is what made him the student and person he is today. “Altogether, I feel like I have garnished a well-rounded, albeit ‘unusual,’ college experience.”
