Transcript Service Restored

As of this afternoon, Wednesday 13 December, we have restored transcript ordering service. We appreciate your patience and we apologize for the delay in restoring service. Please see here for details.

Transcripts Unavailable through Tuesday 12 December

Allegheny College’s transcript ordering service will be unavailable between Friday 8 December and Tuesday 12 December.

This is so that we can switch service providers. Transcript service will reopen on Tuesday 12 December using TranscriptsPlus from Credentials Solutions. All students with current transcript requests will either have the request processed as requested or else will be contacted about how to re-order.

Once the new service is available, you will be able to access it either via the “Order Transcript” link in your WebAdvisor account or via this link (http://sites.allegheny.edu/registrar/transcript-requests/).

Are you going to graduate in May 2018??

Seniors should ensure they are registered for the courses they need to graduate!!

Please review your Degree Audit, consult with your academic advisor(s), or contact the Office of the Registrar (registrar@allegheny.edu, 814-332-2357). You have until 4:00 pm on Monday 29 January 2018 to adjust your schedule.

All-College Change Period (Add/Drop) (December 2017)

On Monday 11 December, WebAdvisor will be temporarily closed while we make final adjustments to the Spring schedule. You will still be able to log on to see your schedule.

WebAdvisor will re-open on Tuesday 12 December.

Add cards will also be available on 12 December. Please use Add cards to register (if the instructor grants permission) for:

  • courses that are full
  • courses that have restrictions you do not meet (e.g., FR/SO only)
  • courses that require the instructor’s signature (in “Search for Sections” in WebAdvisor, these courses are designated “Yes” in the “Sign Req” column).

Students may register for up to 20 credits at this time. Starting in January, students will be able to register for an “overload” (21 credits or more). Overload forms will be available at the beginning of the Spring 2018 semester in January. Credit/No Credit cards will be available at the same time.

Please note that an Add card does not override a general registration hold (e.g., no advisor approval or a financial hold). If you are unable to register and you know that your advisor has approved you, you may have some sort of billing hold. You can review your balance through the TMS Student Account Center link on your WebAdvisor or by calling Financial Services at 332-2360.

You can continue to add unrestricted courses that have open seats online, and you can also drop any course online.

Registrar’s Office Closed, 11/22 – 11/27

The Office of the Registrar will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving Break, starting at noon on Wednesday 22 November. The office will reopen at 8:00 am on Monday 27 November. Transcripts and other queries received during that time will not be processed until after the break.

Sign up for GTWY 100 “Pathways” for Spring 2018!

Sign up for a “Pathways” experience for the first  half of the spring 2018 semester. Who are you and what do you want to become? If you want to explore answers to these questions, sign up today!

First- and Second-year students are encouraged to sign up for a new Gateway 100 (GTWY 100) course that explores how to link personal interests and educational experiences to future and professional goals. Students investigate curricular and co-curricular opportunities related to their passions and are provided help in identifying appropriate paths forward that will both enrich and build upon one another. In conversation with faculty and staff facilitators and their peers, students will think about a major and about how to apply their academic training and interests to internships, civic engagement, undergraduate research, and study abroad opportunities. This one-credit, Credit/No Credit, Module A course meets once a week starting the week of January 16. You can add the class as one normally does via WebAdvisor. Spring 2018 Distribution Course Listing

Please see this Google spreadsheet for a listing of Spring 2018 courses that fulfill distribution requirements for students who entered Allegheny College in Fall 2016 or after. You will need to be logged in with an allegheny.edu address in order to be able to view this document.

Please note that not all of these courses are appropriate for all students, depending on their class year and whether or not they have the appropriate pre-reqs, and that some of these courses are restricted to signature only or have other restrictions.

This list is a snapshot in time, so please use WebAdvisor to check the real-time status of classes. WebAdvisor is the source of record for the Spring 2018 schedule. This document is provided for planning purposes only.

Spring 2018 Pre-registration Update (November 2017)

On Friday, December 1 at 4:00 pm, WebAdvisor will close for registration (however, you will still be able to view your courses, transcripts, etc.).

On Monday, December 4, WebAdvisor will reopen for first-year students ONLY (registration class “FR”). FR students will be able to register during the week of December 4 according to the posted Registration Schedule. During this time, other students will be able to add Signature courses (i.e., courses that require instructor permission), but must wait until after the first-year students register to make any other changes to their schedules.

Information Session: Special Requirements for CHEM 109, Spring 2018

Professor Statman will be holding an information session on Chem 109: The Science (and Art) of Brewing in Carr Hall 239 at 3:30 on Wednesday, November 1. At that time, he will describe the course and its expectations. If you are interested, you should attend. Bring proof that you will be at least 21 years old before the end of the first week of classes.

Signature cards will be available from the Office of the Registrar in Bentley Hall starting on Monday 7 November.

Spring 2018 Pre-registration Update (October 2017)

Pre-registration for the Spring 2018 semester begins on Monday, November 6.

Access is by registration class and letter code according to the posted registration schedule. Please check your profile in WebAdvisor to confirm your correct class and letter! The date and time in the schedule are the earliest that you may register.

Please make sure to consult with your academic advisor(s) before your scheduled registration time and receive permission to register – you will not be permitted to register for any classes without your advisor’s approval (double majors and students with co-advisors: both advisors must approve you to register). You should take a Degree Audit with you when you go to meet with your advisor(s).

The general registration order is: seniors, week of November 6; juniors, week of November 13; sophomores, week of November 27; first-years, week of December 4. Within each class, the letter group order for Spring preregistration is: H G A B C D E F (please note that the order when you register next Fall will be: F E H G A B C D).

Registration class is determined solely by credits earned and NOT by the number of semesters you have attended Allegheny. A student is considered to be a first-year student from the date of matriculation until the semester following completion of the 28th semester hour, when the student becomes a sophomore. A student becomes a junior in the semester following completion of the 60th semester hour, and a senior in the semester following completion of the 92nd semester hour.

Preregistration is limited to a maximum of 18 credits. You may add additional credits once the Spring semester begins. If you need a signature card, those will be available in Bentley Hall starting on the morning of Monday 6 November.
