The Goldwater Scholarship
A merit-based scholarship warded to college juniors or seniors who have demonstrated interest in and commitment to a career in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering. Up to 300 Goldwater Scholars each year receive grants of up to $7500.
Selection Criteria
- GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Plans to pursue graduate degrees (usually PhD).
- Internship or independent study experience
Nature of the Award
- Up to $7500 annually to cover tuition, fees, books, room and board.
Nature of the Scholarship
- Undergraduate juniors and seniors who have outstanding potential for careers in math, science and engineering (not medicine).
Competitiveness
300 applicants are selected annually.
Application Process/Deadline
Letter of intent, unofficial transcript, resume by November 1st of sophomore or junior year to Glen Wurst. Draft of application due by January 15th. Allegheny College nominations sent out in February.
