Our Bicentennial year celebrates 200 years of Allegheny College history: our students, our alumni, our faculty and staff, our beginnings and our future and all the years in between. We come together to celebrate all that we are and all that we can become as one of the best liberal arts colleges in the nation.
As we come together for a birthday celebration worthy of the 32nd oldest college in the nation, we are marking the occasion with a number of Bicentennial initiatives and legacy projects.
The Bicentennial Plaza, dedicated on October 17, 2014, is a versatile space that can be used for any number of activities, including talks, plays, concerts, and other special events, including Commencement.
Lining the walkways from Bentley Hall to the new Bicentennial Plaza in front of Schultz Hall are forty-three cast-bronze plaques that celebrate Allegheny’s rich history.
A series of colorful banners line the route into campus beginning at the Smock Bridge and continuing along campus streets and parking lots.
