Advising Overview

You will have an evolving advising team during the time you are at Allegheny.

Starting the summer before you begin classes, you will speak with an “first-year course registration advisor” about your class schedule for the coming fall.

After classes start you will have an “FS advisor” who will teach your first-year seminar (FS 101) and will be your advisor until you declare a major.

You will then have a “major advisor” who will advise you from declaration to graduation.

Finally, you will have a “Senior Project advisor” who will work with you on your Senior Comprehensive Project, usually in your senior year.

Along the way you will benefit from great relationships with other faculty and staff who also offer advice — your instructors, coaches, and staff from the Learning Commons, the Allegheny Gateway, and an array of other offices are here to support you.
