On Sabbatical


Julie Wilson is Associate Professor of Communication Arts and teaches courses in media and cultural studies. She is the author, with Emily Chivers Yochim, of Mothering through Precarity: Women’s Work and Digital Media which explores how mothers in Northwestern Pennsylvania navigate economic insecurity through everyday engagements with digital media. Professor Wilson is also the author of Neoliberalisma textbook that offers a rich and multilayered introduction to what is arguably the most pressing issue of our times. Her research has also appeared in a number of journals including Cinema Journal, Cultural Studies, Celebrity Studies, and Television and New Media.

Professor Wilson is involved in a number of community-based initiatives and was co-coordinator of the Year of Meadville. She is affiliated faculty in Community and Justice Studies and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.
