Commencement Instructions for Students:
Caps & Gowns are now available for purchase in the Bookstore for $45. If you are not currently on campus but will be participating in Commencement, you can pick up and pay for your cap and gown at the tents on Gator Quad, beginning at 8:00 am Saturday, May 22nd.
Students, please make sure that your guests have read the Commencement website, as the College will not be sending them invitations.
Please note that for your security and potential contact tracing, tickets will only be given to the guests listed on your registration form, with no exceptions. Guests that are not on your list will not have tickets to collect. Please make sure your family and loved ones are told whose names were listed on your registration. Folks without tickets are invited to watch the livestream.
Masks will be required at Commencement this weekend. Students are permitted up to two visitors, and that will include elderly or medically vulnerable guests who may or may not be vaccinated. To protect those at risk for severe illness from COVID-19, we ask that you and your guests adhere to the mask requirement.
On Saturday, May 22nd, students should report to Brooks Dining Hall (outdoor ceremony) or Wise Center Performance Arena (indoor ceremony) for rehearsal promptly at:
8:15am if you are attending the 9:00 ceremony,
10:15am if you are attending the 11:15 ceremony,
12:30pm if you are attending the 1:30 ceremony.
Make sure to bring your cap, gown, tassel, and your cords or stoles to the rehearsal. If you bring anything else, you will need to carry it with you throughout the ceremony as we are unable to provide secure storage for your belongings.
Snacks will be provided at rehearsal.
Boxed meals will be available throughout the day for students graduating and their guests. Tickets for meals will be included in your guests’ ticket packet. Location: the Compass Rose (located on the walkway between Walker Hall and Carr Hall), if the ceremony is outdoors, or the Tippie Alumni Center in Cochran Hall, if the ceremony is indoors.
We encourage you to wear sensible shoes as you will be walking on bricks, stairs and possibly soft ground.
You will fill out a form for the photographer at rehearsal so that proofs can be emailed to you.
Your guests can pick up their tickets at the tent on Brooks Walk when they arrive. If the ceremony is indoors, tickets will be available at the Box Office located in the Henderson Campus Center lobby.
Tickets will be required for guests/family members for both outdoor and indoor ceremonies, as well as Baccalaureate.
If you are attending Baccalaureate, please arrive at Shafer Auditorium with your guests and sit together.
Participating students will also sit with their guests for the First Generation Pinning ceremony, which will be held on Murray Lawn if outdoors, or Shafer Auditorium if indoors.
Depending on the weather forecast, the decision about holding Commencement outdoors or indoors will be made on Friday and posted to My Allegheny and the Commencement website.
