Spring 2022 Vaccination Exemption Policy — Students and Employees

Allegheny College COVID-19 Vaccination Exemption Policy — STUDENTS

Updated January 2, 2022

Unvaccinated persons are at risk of contracting COVID-19 and becoming severely ill, as well as transmitting COVID-19 to others. At Allegheny College, students who have not provided acceptable proof of vaccination against COVID-19 (including those with approved accommodations and exemptions) must comply with all College COVID-19 mitigation protocols, including the following:

  • Wear a mask at all times while on campus, indoors and outdoors, even when others are permitted to be unmasked;
  • Remain physically distanced from others at all times (6 feet whenever possible);
  • In the classroom, wear a mask and leave one desk/seat open between you and others;
  • Participate in mandatory twice-weekly testing for COVID-19 while on campus. Students are required to appear for testing on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 8am – 4pm. Invitations and reminders will not be sent. Unvaccinated students will be billed for the second weekly COVID-19 test. Failure to present for twice-weekly testing will result in immediate corrective action, including removal from campus.
  • Follow the current CDC guideline to delay travel until you are vaccinated.
  • Comply with all other applicable public health guidance and orders applicable to unvaccinated individuals, including such guidance by the CDC and state and local public health agencies. Each student is responsible for being familiar with such applicable public health guidance.

Unvaccinated students who are required to quarantine or isolate will not be permitted to reside in on-campus housing during the quarantine/isolation period. In such circumstances, the student must find temporary housing at their own expense. Quality Inn is providing such temporary housing. Students will also receive a bill for food provided by the College while in quarantine/isolation. Students will be permitted to return to on-campus housing only after satisfying the College’s requirements for ending quarantine/isolation.

Until the CDC rescinds the travel guidelines, the College will not sponsor, pay for, or authorize any College-related travel for unvaccinated persons. This means that you may not travel for any College-related events (including athletic competitions, academic conferences, etc.). If you choose to travel for personal reasons, you must quarantine for seven days and then provide a negative PCR test result from an off-campus medical facility before returning to campus.

As you schedule your return to campus in January 2022, please plan to quarantine off campus for seven days before traveling to campus and obtain an off-campus PCR test for no more than five days prior to your move-in date. When you arrive, plan to quarantine for 24-36 hours in your room as you wait for your on-campus PCR test to result. You may leave to pick up food.

Students who do not comply with the above requirements will be subject to the College’s conduct process and will face appropriate corrective action, including but not limited to, removal from campus.
