Rachel Clark ’09

Fall 2008 – Spring 2009 Davies Leader

“Gallery Show Assistant Coordinator and Office Management Assistant”
Meadville Council on the Arts

The Meadville Council on the Arts has a mission to “enrich the quality of life by providing art education opportunities for individuals, organizations, and our communities, by supporting the creation, production, and exhibition of the visual, performing, and craft arts.” While the program director was away from the office due to an injury, Rachel became a crucial member of the staff. She kept the office in order and welcomed many gallery visitors during this time. Rachel also organized the fall Taste of the Arts Senior Outreach Project and the October Evenings juried exhibition. She is a large supporter of the MCA’s grant work. She will continue this position during the 2008-2009 school year.

Rachel felt that her experience at The Meadville Council on the Arts was rewarding and provided her with professional office management skills. She hopes to learn more about grant work as her Davies position continues in the Fall of 2008.

From Aromas, California, Rachel in her final year at Allegheny College as a Psychology major and Music Theory minor. All while continuing her work at The Meadville Council on the Arts, Rachel completed her senior composition, which focused on how reading is taught in kindergarten and how other methods can make this process more effective from an early age.
