Bryan Kennedy ’09

Summer 2008 Davies Leader

“Restructuring and Design of Grounds”
Tamarack Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center

Tamarack Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center specializes in the rescue, treatment and release of injured, orphaned and sick wildlife. Additionally, Tamarack provides public education programs and materials on the behavior, feeding habits, and natural habitats of many of Pennsylvania’s species of wildlife.

While at this Davies site, Bryan became part of a large project to create a new parking lot for the center. In doing so, Bryan was able to use many resources to keep the project at a low cost for the not-for-profit organization. Additionally, Bryan designed a new look for other outdoor elements of the center, including new wildlife gardens, mural painting on the building, and signs for better direction and advertisement of the center.

While at Tamarack Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center, Bryan continually invited students and friends to visit the site. Bryan’s parents even became involved in some of the work he was doing. Bryan successfully received donations for many high priced elements of his project and feels this will only continue now that the center’s new look is being maintained. Bryan will continue to support this program through Davies Leadership in the Fall of 2008.

Bryan is from Avella, PA and is majoring in Biology and his minor is Art History. He will be graduating from Allegheny College in May of 2009.
