Alyssa Isakower ’10

Summer 2009 Davies Leader

“Getting a Taste of the Arts
Meadville Council on the Arts

The Meadville Council on the Arts has a mission to “enrich the quality of life by providing art education opportunities for individuals, organizations, and our communities, by supporting the creation, production, and exhibition of the visual, performing, and craft arts.”

During her first semester as a Davies Leader, Alyssa will work with the new Program Director, Kate Radivojevich. Alyssa will plan, coordinate and execute the MCA’s outreach program, “Taste of the Art,” which will bring art and music into senior facilities in Crawford County. She will promote and monitor the success of the program. In doing so, Alyssa will evaluate the results of a survey completed by program participants. This will allow her to summarize and make recommendations for the future.

Alyssa will also have the opportunity to create a marketing program/campaign to bring greater awareness of MCA to the community. This will include several promotional materials and perhaps a membership drive. Alyssa will also be active in monitoring and updating the new MCA Facebook account. Alyssa will have a great deal of responsibility in her position as a Davies Leader at MCA. The gallery is constantly changing and there is always work to do in the MCA office.

Alyssa is a rising senior at Allegheny College. She is majoring in Environmental Science and minoring in Studio Art. Alyssa is from Hackettstown, NJ. Alyssa has experience with community service at Heath Village Retirement Community in Hackettstown, NJ, and at Center for Family Services in Meadville, PA. Alyssa did a Semester at Sea through the University of Virginia in the Fall of 2008. She visited ten different countries in South and Central America, Africa, and Asia. During this experience, Alyssa developed a strong ethic of service. She has continued to stay involved while at Allegheny College and now as a Summer Davies Leader.
