Business & Economics Career Resources

Welcome to information on current opportunities provided to students with interests in business and economics.

New for 2020, Allegheny College is now a member of Handshake,  the trusted partner of more than 900 colleges and universities, and the #1 way college students find jobs.  Students are encouraged to join with their email to explore career options, find jobs and internships, and connect with employers.

Handshake opportunities are accessible on desktop, or students may download the free Handshake app for fast access to opportunities.  The system is managed through Allegheny’s Career Education – the Career Ed team can answer questions and help students and prospective employers to navigate the system and get the optimum benefit from Handshake.

Students should also create their professional profile on LinkedIN  and keep it updated as many employers require a LinkedIN profile when submitting applications.  It is also an important tool for seeking opportunities throughout a student’s business and economics career.  LinkedIN members are encouraged to join our Center for Business & Economics group while on LinkedIn. How to Network on LinkedIN for Students

All students are encouraged to set an appointment with Career Education as early as possible to access a full portfolio of career opportunities and training;  Business and Economics students should contact Beth Ryan, for personal assistance.

The Bruce R. Thompson Center for Business & Economics works in partnership with  Allegheny Career Education to mentor students on how to locate and apply for internships, secure housing and apply for funding sources to defray costs.
