Accounts Receivable Specialist

Allegheny College, a small selective liberal arts college located in northwest Pennsylvania, invites applications for the position of Accounts Receivable Specialist.  This is a full-time non-exempt position reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance.  The Office of Financial Services administers all College Financial Information.

The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for timely and accurate billing of students each semester for Tuition, Room, Board and Fees.  The Accounts Receivable Specialist communicates with students and families regarding student billing accounts in alignment with College policy in a manner that enhances student satisfaction and supports retention.  The Accounts Receivable Specialist collaborates regularly with cross functional departments to ensure the accuracy of student billing account activity and collection of balances due

Required qualifications include Associates Degree in Accounting or Business, plus one to three years’ experience in an accounting office setting.    Must have good interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to operate efficiently with multiple tasks assigned, and must be highly organized with an attention for detail and confidentiality.  Experience in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel is necessary; knowledge of Ellucian or experience with other mainframe software a plus.
