Allegheny College, a small selective liberal arts college located in northwest Pennsylvania, invites applications for the position of Lake Effect Leaders AmeriCorps VISTA Interim Project Coordinator. This is an externally grant funded full-time, exempt, year-to-year administrative position reporting to the Lake Effect Leaders AmeriCorps VISTA Project Director in the Allegheny Gateway. The Allegheny College Gateway supports students as they explore their interests, turn those interests into experience, and then apply what they’ve learned to opportunities both in their careers and in their communities.
The AmeriCorps VISTA Interim Project Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Project Director in facilitating the Lake Effect Leaders Program Grant. Lake Effect Leaders is a multicounty intermediary AmeriCorps VISTA Program Grant which serves as a pipeline for nonprofit leadership development. Led by a partnership consisting of Allegheny College, as the lead institution, Gannon University, and Mercyhurst University, the program professionally equips VISTA members to serve critical capacity-building functions in nonprofit organizations in order to eliminate poverty.
A minimum of two years of experience in civic engagement, national service, or a related field is expected, as well as demonstrated cultural competency in working with students from diverse backgrounds.
