Allegheny College, a selective national liberal arts college, invites applications for the position of Assistant Dean for Spiritual, Religious and Personal Wellbeing. The position is a full-time exempt position reporting to the Associate Dean for Community Standards and Wellness within the Office of Student Life. This will be a senior member of the Student Life team and will serve on the leadership team. The Office of Spiritual, Religious and Personal Wellbeing supports students in various dimensions of wellness, with a particular focus on spirituality and religion. Salary range begins at $44,000 annually.
The Assistant Dean for Spiritual, Religious and Personal Wellbeing will work to offer programmatic opportunities for spiritual exploration, development, and practice; interfaith experiences; and holistic wellness. This position will work closely with other offices on campus, especially the IDEAS (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Access, & Social Justice) Center and the Maytum Center for Student Success, to provide support and guidance to students as it relates to their spiritual, religious, and personal wellbeing. The position will actively promote diversity, belonging, and equity through critical and compassionate communication and strategic outreach efforts to various groups (e.g., historically under-represented, first-generation, undocumented and DACA students, LGBTQ students). This position will also be responsible for the ceremonial responsibilities related to supporting student spiritual and religious wellbeing.
This position requires a Master’s degree in spirituality, religion, wellness, or a related field (doctoral degree preferred), and requires 1-3 years in a related field or position. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge of interfaith practices, strategies, and concepts; the spiritual wellness of undergraduate students; and methods, practices, terminology, and techniques used in compassion care and support.
