Allegheny College, a small selective national liberal arts college, invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of Financial Aid. The position is a full-time non-exempt position reporting to the Executive Director of Admissions and Financial Aid but also receives direction from the Associate Director of Financial Aid.
The Assistant Director of Financial Aid will assist in providing leadership and supervision in the administration of federal, state and institutional student aid programs for a diverse population of undergraduate students. The Assistant Director of Financial Aid will provide both students and parents with counseling and guidance with application procedures, eligibility requirements for student aid programs, and completion of the application forms.
The Assistant Director of Financial Aid will manage and maintain prospective and currently enrolled students’ financial aid files. Expectations for this position include providing professional and courteous communications with students and parents, maintaining detailed and accurate records, reconciling federal, state and institutional funds to ensure compliance with all regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the awarding and distribution of financial aid that may involve heavy regulations. This position works closely with student employees and some supervision may be required.
Significant experience in financial aid, knowledge of state and federal regulations, and attention to detail are required. Working knowledge of Technolutions/Slate, Ellucian and Microsoft Office or ability to learn new software quickly. Must have excellent interpersonal and project-management skills, be highly organized, detail oriented, and possess strong communication skills with the ability to interact with constituents within the Allegheny community, and students and their parents. Bachelor’s degree and at least 2-3 years of student financial aid experience are required.
