Assistant Professor in Computer Science (Tenure-Track)

Allegheny College invites applications for two full-time, tenure-track positions in computer and information science, beginning in August 2023. Ideal candidates will have a Ph.D. or another terminal degree (e.g. MFA, MEng, MBA) or commensurate industry experience in information technologies, with demonstrated core competencies in computer science, successful teaching experience in computational courses, and an active multidisciplinary research agenda.

The successful candidates will be invited to teach courses in computer and information science as well as in the college-wide first-year/sophomore seminar program. The teaching load is four laboratory courses per academic year (with a one-course reduction in the first year). The chosen candidates will receive laboratory space for teaching and research and access to funding for research with students.

The successful candidates will join an entrepreneurial and vibrant community composed of dedicated teachers, active researchers, and diverse learners, and contribute to an innovative computer science curriculum and the Integrative Informatics program. Allegheny faculty, students, and alumni have strong connections to top-tier academic institutions and industry-leading corporations and we are located near Pittsburgh, a city recently described as having a viable path to becoming one of America’s leading hubs for technology startups.
