Executive Director of Career Education

Allegheny College, a selective national liberal arts college, invites applications for the position of Executive Director of Career Education.  This is a full-time exempt position reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement.  A link to the full prospectus can be found here.

The following are essential duties and responsibilities for this position: Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement (IA), and in close collaboration with other members of the President’s Cabinet, the Executive Director of Career Education will launch a new model of integrated career learning that activates community-wide support, ensures equitable access to transformative experiences, promotes professional readiness, and facilitates students’ exploration of their unique interdisciplinary interests.

The Executive Director will set forth a compelling vision and shared mission for the campus community which champions the involvement of all Allegheny constituents in ensuring student success. This leader will inspire and mobilize students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, donors, regional community partners, and employers to activate a campus-wide career ecosystem.

Qualifications include: Master’s degree required; 7+ years of experience in career services, external engagement, experiential education, or a related field, including experience supervising professional staff; Knowledge of trends in college-to-career-transition, talent acquisition, and career education best practices within liberal arts institutions; Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion; Strong knowledge of National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) standards for professional ethical practice in career services and recruiting; Proven ability to drive structural change and continuous improvement with high emotional intelligence; Strong relationship-building skills with a variety of stakeholder groups and ability to develop strategic partnerships; Experience managing multiple budget sources and accounts, including annual operating budgets and entrepreneurial funds, Advanced abilities in data-informed decision-making; Understanding of how to leverage technology for operational efficiency, scale and personalization; Entrepreneurial spirit, business acumen, and strong work ethic; Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
